My journey with kickboxing began when I learned that I would soon be a father to a little boy. My son has been my most meaningful motivation to get healthy and engage with a challenging and creative outlet for exercise. I joined a gym, and studied every day, learning as many different perspectives on every strike thrown in kickboxing. I am still learning. I will always be learning. My goal is to share that journey with young people. To learn alongside them, and help them push themselves. In hopes that WMass can one day become a recognized destination for kickboxing.
Since my initial introduction to kickboxing at a local gym, I've founded a successful kickboxing elective at the school that I teach English at. Students get access to kickboxing instruction during the last period of the day. Roughly 45 minutes a day. This is far more than most local gyms and we make the most of it. It has excited me to share what I've learned in this process. If you're a former student reading this, you all impress me and make me proud to be your kickboxing facilitator.
